Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS)
programs
Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), also known as
neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) or
electromyostimulation, uses pulses to evoke muscle
contraction. This can for example help to strengthen
muscles.
Use EMS only on healthy, uninjured muscles. Apply
EMS programs while resting (sitting, lying), as they
result in muscle contraction. First-time users can
experience electrical muscle stimulation as an
unfamiliar and unusual sensation. We therefore
advise you to start at a low intensity setting to get
used to the sensation before you choose a higher
intensity setting. In general, stimulation must always
feel comfortable. The muscle contractions must not
feel exhausting, strenuous or tiring. After strenuous
exercise or exertion, we advise you to use a lower
setting to avoid muscle fatigue.
