The cutting edges are very sharp. Do not touch them.
7 Put the lid with feeding tube on the bowl with spout (1). Turn the lid clockwise (2) to x it
(‘click’) (Fig. 5).
8 Put the mains plug in the wall socket (Fig. 6).
Using the appliance
The shredding and slicing discs are intended for shredding or slicing vegetables like cucumber,
carrots, potatoes, leeks and onions and certain kinds of cheese. The julienne disc is intended for
cutting vegetables into thin sticks. HR1388 only: The French fries disc is intended for cutting potatoes
into fries.
Never process hard ingredients like ice cubes with the appliance.
The cutting edges are very sharp. Do not touch them.
1 Turn the control knob to 1. (Fig. 7)
2 Put the ingredients in the feeding tube (Fig. 8).
- Pre-cut large ingredients into pieces that t in the feeding tube.
- Fill the feeding tube evenly for the best results.
- To shred cheese, e.g. Parmesan, Gouda or Emmentaler, the cheese should be at refrigerator
temperature.
3 Put the pusher onto the ingredients in the feeding tube and push down (Fig. 9).

Cleaning and maintenance
Never use scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids such as petrol or acetone
to clean the appliance.
Note: All parts except the base can be cleaned in the dishwasher
1 Switch off and unplug the appliance (Fig. 11).
2 Turn the lid with feeding tube anticlockwise (1) and remove it from the bowl with
spout (2) (Fig. 12).
3 Lift the disc and the tool holder out of the bowl with spout. (Fig. 13)
4 Turn the bowl with spout anticlockwise (1) and remove it from the base (2). (Fig. 14)
5 Clean the bowl with spout, the lid with feeding tube, the pusher, the tool holder and the discs
with warm water and some washing-up liquid or in the dishwasher (Fig. 15).
Clean the discs very carefully. The cutting edges are very sharp.
6 Wipe the base with a moist cloth (Fig. 16).
Danger: Never immerse the base in water, nor rinse it under the tap. Do not clean it in the
dishwasher either.
Caution: If water or other liquids ends up between the base and the bowl with spout, dry the
base properly before you continue using the appliance again.
7 Wipe all parts of the appliance dry with a tea towel.
